In the steel sector, long product handling cranes are particularly used in factories, the store area and in warehouses (indoor/outdoor). These are double girder cranes provided with a rotating crab /rotating beam & electromagnet, which handles & allows the rotation of high temperature billets/bundles & stack appropriately. Additionally, the feature is particularly useful when the orientation of the product is to be changed by 90 degrees to take a perpendicular path for reaching to the next process station or for loading/unloading the billets/bundles on the truck/trailer. The crane can be of EOT type or gantry type when the shop floor structure does not have adequate load considerations Sometimes, to handle long heavy pipes or stacks of rebars, two cranes of identical configuration are synchronised for tandem operation. This ensures jerk-free movement and safe handling.
